PANAJI: State govt has approved the installation of 30MW rooftop solar PV plants on over 300 govt buildings with an aim to generate over 4.5 crore units of green electricity for Goa.
The installations are expected to be completed within the next six months.
A senior officer said, “Govt granted approval for installation of 30MW rooftop solar PV plants on govt buildings in Resco mode to MahaPreit Ltd at a levellised tariff of Rs 5 per unit on nomination basis.”
The officer said that Renewable Energy Service Company (Resco) is a solar financing model in which Resco – that is the renewable energy service company, which is a third party service provider – owns, installs, operates and maintains the solar power system on behalf of the customer.
The ministry of new and renewable energy directed all state govts to install rooftop solar PV plants on govt buildings.
Recently, during the chief secretaries conference, it became mandatory for state govts to adopt this initiative.
The Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA) conducted an assessment study and prepared a detailed project report (DPR) for the installation of rooftop solar PV plants on govt buildings through Dornier Group, identifying a potential of 30MW.
The GEDA has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with MahaPreit, Maharashtra govt undertaking, for the implementation of renewable energy projects in Goa. The average cost of supply (ACOS) for the financial year 2022 is Rs 5.7 per unit, allowing MahaPreit to propose a power purchase agreement (PPA) rate of Rs 5 per unit for the solar systems across govt buildings, offering a cost-effective solution compared to the prevailing ACOS.
