The battle between Silfab Solar and York County residents wages on. Monday night at York County Council, dozens of residents showed up vastly against the solar panel manufacturing company. This comes after Silfab put out a statement saying they still intend and plan to build despite losing its approval by the York County Board of Appeals. In the statement last week, Silfab said they intend to start production on panels by years end. This outraged residents as they are still concerned about the health impact of the facility. The company refutes that saying there are no harmful effects on the local environment in its production. In the meeting Monday, residents pleaded and demanded that Council “do their jobs” in doing what’s best and safe for its residents. People also brought up contradictions within the York Counties zoning code with Silfab and one person even found Silfab has job postings available already for the site. And the descriptions say there will be air pollution on the site. Audio and more coming later Tuesday on news.
