Hailey plans solar panel installation at City Hall – Idaho Mountain Express and Guide

The Hailey City Council on Monday approved a $100,000 grant award from the U.S. Department of Energy to install a photovoltaic solar power system on the rooftop at City Hall.

The project will go out to bid next week, with an awarded contract to follow this summer. Installation should start in the fall or early summer of 2025, according to City Administrator Lisa Horowitz.

The city is opting for a ballasted installation, meaning the panels will be weighed down by cement blocks and crews would not need to penetrate the roof.

Hailey City Hall’s new roof will resemble Hailey’s Wood River Inn on Main Street. The hotel completed a 55-kilowatt photovoltaic rooftop project in the summer of 2017.
