LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – An elderly Las Vegas Valley couple thought they were going to have to live with their bad solar decision for the rest of their lives.
The Scribners were scammed out of thousands of dollars. After finding out they did not qualify for a promised tax rebate of $9,000, a lien was placed on their house.
A local company stepped in to help. Sol-Up reached out, wanting to help the local couple. They reached out to their finance company and ultimately presented the couple with a $9,000 check.
Sol-Up also pledged to inspect their solar panels, making sure that they are the right size and that they were installed properly. The company told FOX5 that giving back to the community is just as important as putting solar panels on homes and making money.
To avoid scams like this, Sol-Up advised potential solar customers to avoid doing business with anyone going door-to-door. Instead, they suggest going with a Nevada-based brick-and-mortar business. Customers should also remember that they are making a 25-year commitment.
