PLN Nusantara Power, a sub-holding of PT PLN (Persero), has achieved a significant milestone by connecting the Nusantara National Capital City (IKN) solar power plant (PLTS) to the phase I transmission network, providing 10 Megawatts (MW) out of the total 50 MW. This development marks a crucial step toward supplying the IKN area with electricity sourced from environmentally friendly energy.

Darmawan Prasodjo, President Director of PLN, affirmed the commitment to support the government’s vision for the IKN, emphasizing a focus on a smart, beautiful, and eco-friendly forest city concept. In addition to solar power, PLN aims to harness hydro potential from nearby rivers and lakes surrounding the IKN.

“We are fully committed to supporting green electricity infrastructure at IKN. This will be the best capital city, where everything will be based on state-of-the-art technology, clean energy sources, and smart technology using Artificial Intelligence (AI),” stated Darmawan.

Ruly Firmansyah, Main Director of PLN Nusantara Power, expressed confidence in the timely operation of the IKN PLTS, targeting electrification during the upcoming 79th Republic of Indonesia Independence Day ceremony. The first synchronization phase with a 10 MW capacity has been successfully completed on schedule, with plans to synchronize the remaining 40 MW and conduct trials for commercial operation.

The IKN PLTS, with a total capacity of 50 MW, is a pioneering renewable energy project in the IKN region. In November 2023, President Joko Widodo laid the first stone for this solar power plant, situated on an 80-hectare area equipped with 21,600 solar panels and capable of providing employment for up to 337 local workers.
