PM Modi launches NLC India’s 300 MW solar project in Rajasthan – ETEnergyWorld
The foundation stone for NLC India Ltd‘s 300 MW Solar Power Project in Barsingsar, Rajasthan, was laid today by PM Narendra Modi via video conference. The ceremony, attended by various dignitaries including the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, marks a significant step in bolstering India‘s renewable energy portfolio.
The project, awarded under MNRE’s CPSU Scheme, is estimated to cost Rs. 1,756 crore with commissioning scheduled for September 2024.
Speaking at the event, PM Modi emphasized India’s progress in solar power generation and the employment opportunities these projects bring, especially for the youth.
Key highlights of the project include its strategic location near the existing Barsingsar Thermal Power Station, a Power Usage Agreement with Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited, and the use of indigenous domestic solar modules to align with the ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’ initiative.
Over its 25-year lifespan, the project is expected to generate approximately 18.75 BU of green energy and reduce approximately 18 Million Metric Tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
During the construction phase, nearly 600 jobs will be created, with over 100 jobs during the operation and maintenance phase. The project has been awarded to M/s TATA Solar Power Systems Ltd on an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) basis through a competitive bidding process.
The green power generated by this project will contribute to Rajasthan’s Renewable Purchase Obligation and support India’s progress towards its Net Zero status, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change.
