Rapid brush fire threatens Bennington solar farm, nearby factory evacuated – WRGB

Multiple fire agencies responded to a large brush fire in Bennington, Vermont, at around 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Bennington Rural Fire Department.

A nearby manufacturing facility was evacuated because of how fast the fire was spreading nearby.

According to the fire chief, the fire appeared to have started in a cornfield near a solar farm on West Road, and the biggest concern were solar panels catching on fire.

Power to that solar facility was shut off as crews battled the fire. The fire chief said several solar panels were damaged. According to the fire department, the fire was extinguished and the scene is clear.
