TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Kathy Hammack said she was thrilled when solar panels went up on her house last August, but that feeling didn’t last very long.
“Then I got a call from my salesperson, saying there’s a discrepancy in the address,” Hammack said.
Hammack’s address is listed on her solar contract as 108th Lane N. The “N” is for North. That “N” is also listed on the street sign in front of her house.
But her Duke Energy bill and property appraiser’s website shows no “N.”
She said Sunrun, a California-based solar company, told her the address has to match and to have Duke change it on their end. Hammack said Duke tried, but “it still didn’t stick. It just defaults back without the North.”
So, she said Sunrun finally changed it in their records in April and sent a letter saying it was taken care of. But she said that didn’t last and they notified her again that there was a problem with the address.
Hammack said she knew she’d Better Call Behnken and Consumer Investigator Shannon Behnken reached out to both Duke and Sunrun.
A spokeswoman for Duke said she can’t provide customer information but will have someone reach out to help Hammack.
A Sunrun representative told me he was would pass along my message to the right person. But no one has called me back.
Better Call Behnken will stay on this story until this is resolved.
