The farm side of the solar farm story – spiritofjefferson

1 minute, 4 seconds Read

I listened to the Jefferson County meetings and the Shepherdstown Town Hall meeting [addressing industrial solar energy facilities in the county]. I am very glad that I can divide my time between our farms and South Florida. Florida is more friendly because you know where you stand. The left shift that has occurred in Jefferson County astounds me. Everyone speaks of the county’s beauty, but the underlined vibe is far from that beauty.

Instead of building, our family looked for a different way to farm and contribute to the county. During the last five years the county suffered from COVID-19, two commissioners leaving the Charles Town District and two commissioners trying to become martyrs. It is disturbing to hear a current commissioner make an incorrect statement of “Wild Hill had five years to provide information and present the PILOT Program.” Does anyone remember how many Jefferson County meetings were cancelled during COVID until the virtual meetings started or how many times a quorum was not met so the meeting had to be cancelled?

Once I moved past that, I reflected on what the objections have been, and Jefferson County needs income because the growth started arriving in 1978. Once you read the following and move past the anger and self-justified reactions, think about the issue, please.
