The new invisible energy that is going to replace solar panels: this country produces it, and it is in the atmosphere – ECOticias

In an era like the one we live in, there is a continuous search for renewable and sustainable energy sources. Especially those that are in the atmosphere or that are easy to process and transport. Here we will talk about biomethane as the latest discovery on energy.

Biomethane: the new green energy source

At the last annual meeting of the Spanish Gas Association (SEDIGAS) biomethane, a gas that is freely available in the atmosphere and invisible, was defined as a green and environmentally friendly energy source. It is also a key part of efficient waste management.

It is also indispensable for a circular economy that is robust against a spiral economy like the one we have now. That is why insiders have expressed that this element will be very influential, in a direct way, in the access to energy for all.

Biomethane and national natural gas demand

It is estimated that Spain has the capacity to produce, in energy terms, some 163 TWh, which includes the separation of biomethane in the atmosphere, as well as its processing and transport. With the potential to satisfy a little more than 50% of the national demand for natural gas.

In this way, it reduces dependence on this type of energy, which is expected to replace solar panels in the near future. Thus, it helps in the energy independence of our country and improves, in turn, the trade balance by reducing the import volumes of this gas.

It should be noted that our country already produces biomethane, but in small proportions, since the necessary infrastructure has not been set up. Although in this context, it is fair to say that by adapting the existing gas distribution and transportation systems, large investments would not be necessary.

Since these adaptations would be relatively small and easy to carry out, as they do not involve modifications that would cause major impacts. In this way, costs can be kept low for all citizens to start their migration to this kind of energy.

As a comparative example, in the case of hydrogen, additional investments must be made in the current gas structure to enable it to process only 20% of this gas. Therefore, if this percentage is to be increased, it is necessary to make works for a new system.

Returning to the replacement of solar panels by biomethane, this, like the panels, represents a clean and renewable energy. Only with this element, the devices that work with it are not limited by climatic factors or night hours.

Biomethane: an invisible energy that comes at a crucial time

The gas is said to be discovered and produced by Spain in a crucial context, as European Community member states make enormous efforts to standardize their energy policies. As is the definition of ambitious decarbonization plans at all levels.

And it is at this point that biomethane emerges as an invisible and ecological energy, being called to play a fundamental role in the energy transition to Net Zero. Moreover, in addition to this attribute, it is very efficient in waste management.

It is a very reliable way of guaranteeing Spain’s energy security, since our country has the necessary equipment, duly adapted, for the mass and commercial production of biomethane. In this way, a sustainable future can be guaranteed for the whole of Europe.

As you can guess, this element holds great promise for energetically stable times ahead. It only remains for us to see how the transition unfolds for the generations to come.
