NATALIE – The News Item is reporting…  The owner of Wood-Mode LLC, in Kreamer, is proposing a commercial solar energy facility containing roughly 8,300 solar panels in Northumberland County. The site is a former drive-in movie theater in Natalie, along Route 54 near Mount Carmel.

The newspaper is reporting, the 25-acre property has not been used in decades. William French, the sole member of 160

Colonial LLC, met with the Mount Carmel Township Zoning Hearing Board last week. He said he wants to improve the property by installing a 3.975-megawatt solar facility.

Since the township ordinances are silent on commercial solar energy facilities, 160 Colonial LLC was tasked with showing that the project is consistent with uses permitted in the commercial general (C-2) zoning district, will not harm the township and complies with local ordinances. We’ll keep you posted about progress on this endeavor.
