Students returning from spring break to D.H. Conley High School may notice something new on the horizon: A solar array similar to one installed at Lakeforest Elementary School over the winter.

The two Pitt County schools are among 86 in North Carolina to incorporate green energy through NC GreenPower’s Solar+ Schools program. For nearly a decade, solar power systems have found a place in the sun at schools across the state, providing benefits in costs as well as in the classroom.
