Chile’s Andes Solar has signed a contract with an investor to build a 13-MWp solar photovoltaic plant in Peru, the firm said.

Peruvian power distribution company CVC Energia is investing in the project, known as Villacuri, while Andes Solar will provide contractor services. These will include engineering, procurement of certain materials and construction of the solar farm, and operation and maintenance services for the finished plant, Andes Solar said.

The Villacuri solar farm will be located in the Salas district in Peru’s Ica province. Work on the project is expected to commence during the second half of 2024.

Villacuri is the first solar project for the Chilean solar installation specialist in Peru. It is also the first solar project for CVC Energia, which currently has hydro and thermal power generation assets in addition to transmission lines and distribution concessions in the country.
