The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) declared the completion of a solar-powered water system in Bataan, which was funded through the 2023 General Appropriations Act in November 2023.

As per the DPWH Bataan 2nd District Engineering Office, the Solar-Powered Water System initiative in Barangay Panilao, Pilar town, received a total funding of P9.5 million.

District Engineer Ulysses Llado emphasized that the DPWH is committed to a sustainable future, improving water accessibility to households by implementing solar-powered water infrastructure and harnessing renewable energy.

Llado stated, “Ensuring a readily available and consistent water supply for local government units through the use of a solar-powered water system demonstrates our proactive approach to delivering essential services to the people.”

He highlighted that the adoption of solar power supports the use of renewable energy, aiming to cut costs and preserve the environment. Additionally, this project serves as a model for other municipalities facing similar challenges, offering a sense of encouragement.
