Plenty of progress continues to be made on the Morris Solar Project in Adair County.

1,100 acres will be covered with solar panels east of State Highway 3 toward the Kirksville Regional Airport near Troy Mills.

In previous updates, AES has told us that the goal is to have the facility operational by the spring or summer of next year.

We spoke with AES Senior Project Manager Jeff Cole to learn if the project is still on track for that completion time.

“Our substantial completion date end of March 2025,” Cole said. “We did have a few weather delays because of the harsh winter and some rain days, but we’re still on track.”

We also asked Cole about how the panels will provide electricity to homes and businesses in the area.

Two other questions we had were how do these panels get recycled and what kind of economic impact will the facility have on Adair County.

Our full story with the latest on this project is scheduled to air on May 21.
