Trina Storage, a subsidiary of Trina Solar, has inked an agreement to supply battery energy storage systems (BESS) for four sites across the United Kingdom operated by international Independent Power Producer Low Carbon.
The deal will see the deployment of systems capable of delivering a combined total of approximately 190 MWh of storage capacity, enhancing arbitrage and ancillary capabilities at each location.
Dubbed as “two-hour projects,” each site will boast the capacity to sustain its rated power output continuously for a duration of two hours. Strategically situated alongside existing solar power plants, these projects will facilitate the seamless integration of additional renewables into the UK grid.
Trina Storage will provide end-to-end services for the project, including consultation, system design, supply and integration, as well as long-term maintenance and extended performance warranties.
The deployment will feature Trina Storage Elementa 0.5P cabinets at Low Carbon’s Meadow, Sandon Brook, Fern Brook, and Birch Solar Farms.
Notable features of these cabinets include their modular, durable design tailored for grid-scale installations, advanced safety features such as liquid-cooled LFP batteries, configurable multi-level battery management systems, and fire suppression systems to mitigate thermal anomalies.
The plug-and-play concept of the system ensures rapid installation and efficient maintenance, while an integrated energy management system optimizes energy flow and consumption.
Under Long Term Service Agreements, Trina Storage will provide Low Carbon with preventative maintenance and a 15-year performance warranty, offering flexible usage parameters. While the BESS installations are independent projects, each site is integrated with Trina Solar PV modules for energy production, reinforcing the longstanding partnership between the two companies in delivering diverse energy generation and storage solutions.
