Jordan Invites Bids For 5 MWp Azraq II Solar Power Plant

The Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) has officially opened the bidding process for the construction of a 5.0 megawatt-peak (MWp) grid-connected solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant in Azraq. Named Azraq II, this project is a continuation of the successful Azraq I PV plant, funded through a bilateral debt swap mechanism with Spain. National and international firms experienced in solar PV projects are invited to participate in the tender. The selected bidder will handle the entire project, including design, supply, construction, commissioning, and the initial two years of operation and maintenance on a turnkey basis. As part of Jordan’s commitment to increasing reliance on renewable energy, Azraq II aims to contribute to the country’s goal of generating 30% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030. 5. Siraj Power Contracting (USD 0.066 or BHD 0.025 / kWh – suspended)

The initiative includes the installation of grid-connected solar photovoltaic power facilities on the roofs of buildings and parking lots, featuring a minimum capacity of 2.5 MWac (Megawatt AC). Additionally, Electric Vehicle charging stations will be implemented at the Ministry of Information premises.
