Greenvolt Next announced on Friday that it has secured an order to install a total of 1 MWp of solar panels for real estate investment and hospitality management company Highgate Portugal.

Under the contract, the distributed generation (DG) unit of Portuguese renewables company Greenvolt – Energias Renovaveis SA (ELI:GVOLT) will deploy nearly 2,000 photovoltaic (PV) panels for six NAU hotels managed by Highgate located in Algarve, Portugal’s southernmost region.

Once up and running, the solar panels will be capable of generating 1,898 MWh annually, offsetting more than 790 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year and generating a 30% savings in electricity costs.

Greenvolt Next noted that this is only the first phase of the partnership with Highgate. The duo has plans to develop further solar projects across the rest of the company’s portfolio.
